Shell Malampaya Floatover Shockcells

E.P.I., supplied the shockcell Leg Mating Units (LMUs) as well as the shockcell Barge Support Units (BSUs) for the Shell Malampaya Platform, which was successfully installed in March of this year. The entire load was transferred from the barge to the CGS, Concrete Gravity Structure (fabricated in Subic Bay) at 16:17 hours on 17 March 2001 after a 2-week journey from Sembawang Shipyard in Singapore to the location offshore Palawan, central Philippines. Offshore Engineer Cover This floatover installation was described in detail in the April 2001 "Offshore Engineer" magazine. "In a speedy and faultless operation, the 11,500t bulk of the topsides was placed on those concrete shafts as a single fully-integrated unit."
Our success with the Shell Malampaya Floatover Project shows the experience and expertise required in floatover installation applications. We look forward to putting this experience to use in future floatover installations. Shell Malampaya
